Founded in 1982, MCDC is Michigan's leading provider of SBA 504 financing and the only Certified Development Company in Michigan to have achieved the SBA's "Premier" designation — a status held by only the top 10% of CDCs nationally. The non-profit operates seven offices across the state and has supported more than 2,500 Michigan small businesses over four-plus decades, with active projects in roughly 90% of Michigan's counties. According to a recent economic impact study, businesses assisted by MCDC have created or retained over 4,000 jobs and contributed more than $551 million to the Michigan economy. MCDC offers SBA 504 commercial real estate and equipment financing as its core product, plus SBA 7(a) loan packaging in partnership with bank lenders. The organization positions itself as a "Michigan-first" lender — 100% of its operations and profits remain in the state — and has been recognized by the SBA Michigan Region as Lender of the Year.
