About
Founded in 1980 to support Utah's small business community, Mountain West Small Business Finance has grown over more than 45 years into one of the nation's top 10 administrators of the SBA's 504 Development Company Loan Program. The private non-profit crossed the $1 billion milestone in its loan portfolio under management in April 2023 and to date has funded more than 5,700 SBA 504 loans, totaling over $2.9 billion in loan proceeds and contributing to more than $6 billion in total project value across the Intermountain West. MWSBF works exclusively with the SBA 504 program, partnering closely with banks and credit unions throughout the region to finance owner-occupied commercial real estate, construction, and major equipment. The organization is also a notable educator within the 504 industry — running a "10 for 10" mini-series of short webinars covering technical topics (special-use properties, environmental considerations, refinancing, and more) for lender and broker partners — plus monthly in-person trainings in Colorado. MWSBF employs roughly 30 people across its three Utah offices.
